Woocommerce Extensions

WooCommerce is a powerful and popular e-commerce plugin for WordPress. It allows anyone to set up an online store with just a few clicks. However, many extensions make the platform even more powerful, and they take WooCommerce to the next level.

The Thank You Redirect for WooCommerce extension seamlessly adds a redirect to your store's thank-you page after the purchase completes.

The thank-you redirect gives you more control over how the customer is taken to subsequent pages of your site and what they see after they complete their purchase.

Customers are directed to the order page by default, but with this plugin, you can change that. For example, you can set up a specific experience for people who want to review a product or view their order history.

This allows you to stay in touch with customers and provide great customer experiences, increasing sales by sending people who are interested in a certain product directly to that product.

The Thank You Redirect for WooCommerce extension is available on all StoreBuilder plans.

The Dokan extension for WooCommerce is designed to allow sellers to manage multiple online stores from one central location. This includes all their inventory, customers, and orders. This extension allows you to run your store from all Amazon marketplaces at once with a single interface.

3. Manage your Products

Manage product listings

Before you can sell products, you need to add them to your store. You can do this from the Products tab in the admin panel. On this screen, you'll see all of your existing products listed. Clicking on any product will open up its edit screen where you can change details like the product name and price. Here are some features you need to understand.

Product Categories
A product category is a group of products that are similar to each other. For example, if you have a store that sells shoes and bags, you might want to create two product categories: Shoes and Bags. When you create a new product, you can assign it to one or more categories using the Categories dropdown menu on the Woocommerce Products page.
The Categories section of your WordPress Woocommerce shop will display all of the products in each category as well as any subcategories for that category. You can also use this section to edit or delete existing categories or sub-categories.
To organize your products into categories, go to Products > Categories and click Add New. Enter a title for your category and select whether or not it's visible on the website. You can also choose from existing product types if they fit with what you're selling.
Attributes
Attributes are additional pieces of information that describe each individual product in more detail. They describe certain characteristics of a product like size, color, material, etc. This feature makes it easy for customers to filter through products based on those attributes and find exactly what they're looking for.
For example, if you're selling t-shirts that come in various sizes (small, medium, large), you can set them up with attributes like size and color so that customers can quickly see which shirts are available in their size and favorite colors.

To add attributes to one of your products, go to Products > Attributes and click Add New. Enter a title for your attribute and select whether or not it's visible on the website. You can also choose from existing product types if they fit with what you're selling.

Product Types
Product types allow you to categorize products by type (e.g., clothing or electronics) so that customers can browse through similar items at once.
  • Simple: This is your standard product. It's a single item that you sell in your store.
  • Grouped: A grouped product is a set or bundle of multiple products. You can use them to create items that are sold together at a discount, like a gift card or gift basket.
  • Virtual: A virtual product isn't tangible, but it still has a price and can be bought through your store. Virtual products can include classes, event tickets, and webinars.
  • Downloadable: Downloadable products are software or other digital content that you can sell directly from your website. Digital rights management (DRM) often protects them so they can only be used by the person who purchased them.
  • External or Affiliate: An external product is one that you don't actually have in stock—you just link to it on another site (like Amazon). An affiliate product is one that you advertise for someone else who sells the product on their site and pays you a commission when someone buys it through yours (such as with Amazon Associates).
  • Variable products are different from standard ones because they let you create multiple variations of a single item for sale on your website. For example, if you have t-shirts available in five different sizes and colors, each size/color combination could be considered a different product.
To know how to add a product type, go to Dashboard > Products > Types section and click on Add New Type button at the top left corner of the page. You will see another popup where you need to enter the name of your new type along with slug
How to Add a Product to your Store
Adding a product
Adding a product to your store is a simple process. You can add products in two ways: using the Add New Product button, or by importing them from your CSV file.
To add a new product:
  1. First, go to Products > Add New Product. This will open a page where you can enter all of your product information.
  2. Enter the following fields:
  • Title: The name of your product.
  • SKU (Stock Keeping Unit): An identification code for each item in stock. It is not needed, but some companies use this to track inventory and other information about their products.
  • Description: A description of what makes this unique and helpful to customers, such as why they should buy it instead of others like it.
  • Price: The price of the product before tax and shipping costs are added in if applicable. If you don't want to charge shipping or tax yet, set these values to 0 USD so that they appear blank when someone looks at the product on their screen or in the cart during checkout. This is not recommended though.

Make sure you categorize your product, into product categories and types to make it easy to manage them. There is more detail about managing your products in your WooCommerce store in this article

4. Configure Shipping

Configure shipping

The last thing is configuring shipping which is great especially since your orders need fulfillment if you are selling physical products. This includes setting up Shipping zones, shipping classes, and flat rate shipping calculations.

Your customers can budget more easily for what they purchase from you when you make it easy for them to understand how much they should budget.

Shipping is an integral part of the WooCommerce platform. It is used to calculate shipping costs, taxes, and fees for your customers. You can configure shipping in several ways, including:

  • Shipping Zones: A shipping company calculates shipping rates based on distance from the origin point for a zone that is defined as a geographically-defined area. For example, a store might have two zones: US and Canada. The store will use different rates for shipping orders depending on which zone the order was placed in.
Calculating shipping zones
  • Shipping Classes: A class is an abstract category that defines how expensive an item will be to ship. For example, an item might belong to the "Large" class—which means that it's heavy and expensive to ship—or it might belong to the "Lightweight" class—which means that it's light and inexpensive to ship.
  • Shipping Calculations: There are several ways that you can calculate shipping costs for orders placed by customers on your website. You can apply flat rates or percentages based on weight or price. Also, you can use calculated shipping methods such as Zone-Based Rates (ZBR), Free Shipping Thresholds (FST), Flat Rate Boxes (FRB), Percentage
